El-rufai regains freedom after arrest

Former minister of the Federal Capital
Territory, FCT Nasir el
Rufai was released late
Saturday night after being detained by the SSS
for hours incommunicado .His release would come as a
relief to many who had argued that the arrest was ill-timed
since it occurred as el Rufai returned from a trip to the UK
where his opposition CPC party
had the opportunity of airing its views on unfolding events in
Nigeria.
Reports however said el Rufai’ s critical
comment on his Thisday Column is what may have rattled the SSS
,leading to his arrest.Another report this morning said the
former minister may be tried for sedition.He is already facing
trial by the EFCC for alleged abuse of office.
But it is certain that the opposition will
continue to kick against attempts
to muzzle a critical voices.General Muhammadu
Buhari,presidential
candidate of the CPC called for the immediate release of el
Rufai yesterday.
