Candidate Advises Jonathan to Resign
Wed March
9,2011
The Peoples Mandate
Party (PMP) Presidential flag bearer for the April 2011
elections,Dr. Batos Chikezie Nwadike wants Jonathan to resign as
President and PDP’s Presidential candidate if the report of the
2006 anti- corruption task force is true.
In a statement
signed by the Presidential Campaign’s Director,Media and
Communications,Engr. Esanerovo Agbodo,Dr. Nwadike stated that
the timely prosecution of those indicted by the anti-corruption
Joint Task
Force, including
President Goodluck Jonathan
will go a long way in assuring Nigerians that nobody is above
the law.
“In fact, if what
the task force reported as published in the Media is
true,President Jonathan should resign his position as President
of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and as the candidate of the
Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) for the 2011
presidential
election with immediate effect and face the
law”,he stated.
Dr. Nwadike, in
company of the
Vice Presidential candidate
of PMP, Alhaji Ali Abacha and National Zonal Coordinators
flagged off his Presidential Campaign in
Lagos
last week amidst excited supporters and Party faithful.
He advised the
Tribunal to ensure that it concludes its prosecution before
April 9th 2011 so that Nigerians would ascertain the
truth of the matter, in order to freely determine who to vote
for as President.
“I want to state
that a man who is dishonest in assets declaration does not have
the moral capacity to rule a nation like
Nigeria
that is struggling to shake off corruption from her system”,he
added.
”Any attempt to
sweep the
Joint Task Force report under the carpet is
inimical to the development of our dear country. Every person
indicted should face the full weight of the law”,he stated.
The Joint Task Force empanelled by
former President
Olusegun Obasanjo on fighting corruption comprised
the Independent
Corrupt Practices and
Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), The
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC),
The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB),
The Department of State Services
(DSS), and the Nigerian Police.

Dr. Nwadike also
said that if voted as
President of Nigeria ,he
will ensure that the minimum wage of the average Nigerian worker
is N50,000.00.He said he will achieve this by cutting all
unnecessary expenditures from the nation’s budget and focusing
on those that will benefit everyone and not just a few.
Nigerians will be
very surprised how much just drinking of tea and other wrong
priorities in public offices cost the nation annually, he said.
“If we block these
loopholes, we have enough to cater for our workers and also
invest in massive infrastructural development”, he added.
On Security, he
promised to cater adequately for all security agencies
especially the Police to ensure safety of lives and properties
in Nigeria.
He said:”every
Policeman will be entitled to a flat each, coupled with
increased wages to boost their morals. More emphasis will also
be placed on training and re-training of security personnel to
cope with modern security challenges in the country.”
He plans to tackle
corruption with all seriousness according to him, “as those who
are found culpable will have to face the full weight of the law
to discourage others.”
He also promised to
engage in massive infrastructural development across Nigeria,
build houses for every married man in the Niger-Delta as well as
create massive employment opportunities for all Nigerians
through prudent management of the nation’s resources.
On power , he said
that his government will achieve constant electricity supply in
the country within the shortest time through massive investment
and transparency, as most of the efforts of PDP government to
address the issue have been shrouded in secrecy, wastage and
corruption.
