Strike: Security aide shoots Labour Leader at Benin Airport

Reports  from  Benin the Edo state capital said the on -going warning strike called by labour took a bloody turn at the Benin airport this morning.Newsdiaryonline has learnt that Mr Ehichioya Godwin, the Edo state chairman of National Union of Air Transport Employees ,NUATE was shot this morning while trying to enforce compliance with the strike at the airport.He was  said to be badly injured.

The Labour leader was shot by a security aide of one of the big shots who apparently wanted to travel.Sources said labour tried to ensure that no plane took off and it was the scene that degenerated into  the shooting by the unnamed  security aide.No official ccount has been given of what really transpired.

But Mr  KadunaEboigbodin the Edo state chairman of NLC has confirmed the shooting.Newsdiaryonline learnt after the shooting of Godwin, Policemen at the airport tried to rush him to the hospital but unfortunately all the hospitals are shut in compliance with the strike.

By 12.00 noon today,  Newsdiaryonline learnt that the NLC officials  led by the state chairman are presently meeting at the civil service Club in Benin.

Popeye:The NLC should take their injured colleague as a sign  of worse things to come. They ought to be ready to take that since they could have accepted or agreed to that hopeless figure of N18000 as minimum wage when law makers are raking in 30times of that for doing absolutely nothing...

Bin Usmanu:... shot his leg by shooting the one that trying to fight for his betterment in life.  He didn't need to use gun to show his loyalty to his boss.  Pity.
