President Goodluck Jonathan has continued his interaction with delegates to the forthcoming PDP primaries .The president is clearly digging in, fighting hard to ensure he clinches the party’s ticket.Today,he held a  meeting with stakeholders and delegates in the South West,a  day after meeting with delegates from the north in Zaria. The meeting with south west delegates and stakeholders took place in Ibadan.

At the end of the Ibadan  meeting Governor Gbenga Daniel of Ogun state read the communiqué  .Daniel said the delegates from the south west have resolved to support Good luck Jonathan en bloc.Ogun and Oyo are the only states under PDP control in the region. It is believed former President Olusegun Obasanjo is working hard to ensure Jonathan is not defeated.

Lagos did not fall to PDP under former President Olusegun Obasanjo. But states such as Osun, Ondo and Ekiti have been reclaimed by opposition Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN and Labour Party

It was therefore little surprising that President  restated  today, the wish of his party to recapture the lost states. He was particular about winning in Lagos. How PDP intends to capture Lagos which is under ACN with Governor Babatunde Fashola doing a good job so far remains to be seen.

Even more, former Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emerged as the new Leader of South West Politics. He and his progressive ACN are known to be working to win all the states in the South West and more.

Nonetheless, President Jonathan remains hopeful. His optimism may be anchored on the endorsement he has received from PDP Governors.Vice President Namadi Sambo who was also with the President  today restated why Jonathan deserves to win the forthcoming elections.Sambo said Jonathan is the most experienced person in the race.Jonathan has been deputy governor, governor, vice president and president, making him the best man for the job Sambo said.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar remains the main challenger to the President in the quest for  PDP's ticket.
