Emulate Alex Ibru, Sylva urges Nigerians

The Bayelsa state governor, Chief Timipre Sylva, has received
with profound shock the news of the death of Chief Alex Ibru,
publisher of the Guardian newspapers.
In a press statement issued yesterday and signed by his Chief
Press Secretary Mr. Doifie Ola, Governor Sylva described the
late publisher as a patrotic Nigerian who founded the first
intellectual newspaper in Nigeria.
Governor Sylva, extolled his public record as unparalleled,
saying he was a man who believed in the ideals of liberalism and
who fought for democracy, justice and equity for all Nigerians.
" He will be greatly missed by all Nigerians and lovers of
democracy and freedom. The ideals and principles which he stood
for should be emulated by all Nigerians," the statement read.
The Governor also described Ibru as a businessman and employer
of labour who has provided for and invested in the Nigerian
people saying his contributions to the Nigerian were
outstanding.
While commiserating with the family of the deceased, he prayed
God to grant them the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
