 Update
 Time to re-invent  Nigeria .....
By Senator Ben Obi        Newsdiaryonline       Mon Nov 29,2010

1.         There is time for every event under the sun. Time to work and a time  to reap the fruits of one’s labour, time to be reactive over issues and a time  to be proactive over situations, time to destroy and a time to rebuild, time to
disagree and a time to agree and unite.
2.         Today, dear Compatriots, distinguished Colleagues, gentlemen of the  Fourth Estate of the realm, I stand before you to officially and publicly accept  with humility and avowed sense of duty and commitment, my new appointment by our  Consensus Aspirants as the DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE AMALGAMATED ATIKU ABUBAKAR
PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN ORGANIZATION.
3.         My dear brothers the former Director-Generals and Coordinators of our  previous Presidential Campaign Organizations; to be chosen out of eminently  qualified colleagues like you as the Director-General of our new collective project ATIKU ABUBAKAR PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN ORGANIZATION is a tremendous honour which underlines a level of confidence our Principals and you, dear Colleagues  repose in me.
4.         Such an honour and endorsement as I have received from you all, calls for reciprocity on my part. To this end therefore, I pledge most solemnly to carry the banner thrust upon me with honour, dignity, fairness and commitment,  whilst counting on your support anchored in our usual spirit of teamwork.
5.         From the bottom of my heart, I most sincerely thank all our four  Principals who approved my appointment as Director-General without any  hesitation. The confidence and trust you have in me can never be compromised.
6.         Furthermore, I want to commend all our Principals in particular for  the paradigm shift they have introduced into Nigeria’s electioneering campaign.   This new shift from dirty propaganda, blackmail, thuggery and all sorts of
unwholesome and unethical conduct to a neat, clean, rancourless and  thuggery-free intra-party Presidential campaign is noteworthy. Our Principals  deserve commendation for demonstrating a high sense of patriotism, honour,  integrity and selfless service as their avowed and clear support and commitment to the Consensus Project, showcase them as paragons of democratic virtue. Surely  their names will be written in gold in Nigeria’s Political Leaders Hall of Fame  when the time comes.
7.         My dear Colleagues, we have reached the end of one project and on the  threshold of our ultimate objective in this our collective action. It is a fact  that we have aggregated our resources–both human and material, we should now  move a step forward with one accord to achieve the objective of the consensus  candidate project by delivering our Principal first as the CANDIDATE of the PDP  during the Party convention, and subsequently, the PRESIDENT of the Federal  Republic of Nigeria come April 2011 elections.
8.         The way to achieve our goal is simple and straight forward. Foremost  is that we must sell the sterling qualities of our candidate to the people of  this great nation with verifiable facts of his track records in the public and
private arena. We must brace up for the challenges ahead, including all sorts of  unwholesome propaganda-stints and blackmail, which our opponents will soon  unleash against our Consensus Candidate. Therefore, we must be ready to counter  instantaneously, every negative publicity put forward by our political  detractors against our candidate, the political Generalissimo – ATIKU ABUBAKAR.
9.         Distinguished audience, fellow Colleagues-Nigeria is a nation of  acclaimed political maturity, irrespective of what detractors may claim. This  means that our people know the truth when they hear and see it. Now, the truth
that Nigerians should hear and see is that our Principal- ATIKU ABUBAKAR, THE  MAN OF THE MOMENT, is the best candidate for the Presidency of this nation at  this time.
10        He is certainly one of the remaining people oriented, grass root  democratic politicians, and on record, the most maliciously investigated  political leader
in history alive today; yet his integrity and honour remain
unscathed. More importantly, he acquitted himself creditably as a public
Servant, and excelled as the Vice President of this country. What remains for  him today is the crown of glory and honour that is due to those who have paid
their dues as is done in many nations of the world.
11.       Distinguished colleagues and audience; most of us were living witnesses as to what our Consensus Candidate passed through as the number two
man of this nation just for defending our nascent democratic experiment from
degenerating into an autocratic regime. He suffered tremendously for his
insistence on the rule of law and respect for the spirit and letters of our  constitution.
12.       I conclude this address by thanking all of you here gathered for the
individual and collective roles you played to keep our collective project in the

orbit and to re-emphasize that our Consensus Candidate has paid his dues and can
therefore MAKE GOOD THINGS HAPPEN AS BETTER DEY COME FOR NIGERIA. He remains a  great Patriot, the conscience of our democracy and an unequalled political  bridge builder across the nation with solid vertical and horizontal political
contacts and connections.

Thank you for your attention and God bless.
LONG LIVE THE MAN OF THE MOMENT – ATIKU ABUBAKAR
LONG LIVE OUR GREAT PARTY – PDP
LONG LIVE THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA
IT SHALL BE WELL WITH US AND OUR DEAR COUNTRY NIGERIA.

Signed:
HIGH CHIEF, SENATOR (DR) BEN NDI OBI
