Fraudulent transfer of $40m by NDDC Executive Director : Group insists on probe    Newsdiaryonline Fri  June 24,2011

Pastor P. Aginighan

The Society for Good Governance which is the reputable non-governmental organization that blew the whistle on the monumental fraud involving illegal transfer and misappropriation of huge sum of money by the Executive Director, Finance and Administration of the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC), Pastor  Power Z. Aginighan, has insisted on the allegation they made recently in the media which exposed the unauthorized and fraudulent transfer of Forty Million Dollars ($40M), equivalent to Five Billion, Six Hundred Million Naira (N5.4bm) in one of the leading Commercial Banks in Nigeria.

The group, in a press release yesterday, called on Nigerians not to be misled by the hypocrisy of some media networks which have thrown integrity to the dustbin and sold their conscience by erasing the story and then supplanting it with a clever retraction.  The group wondered how the fight against corruption could be sustained if those entrusted with exposing such ills can renege so easily.

The group’s National Coordinator, Dr. Hannicks Nkem Owhor regretted the disappearance of such invaluable story that was supposed to play a leading role in sanitizing the rot that has been perpetuated in the Niger Delta Development Commission by the likes of Pastor Power Aginighan.  According to the National Coordinator, “In objective journalism, even if a story is controversial, the views or opinions of the two sides should be allowed to meet the appreciation and judgement of the reading public and also the relevant agencies who have the responsibility to investigate the matter so as to determine its veracity or otherwise.”

The group insisted on standing by their story which they said had empirical facts like account numbers, amount of money involved, name of the bank, date and time of the fraud, they urged the federal government not to ignore the story, promising that they would pursue the matter they have raised to a meaningful conclusion.
