The serial attempts by
Andy Uba to `win` Anambra State
governorship seat has finally hit the
rocks as the Court of Appeal sitting in
Enugu has dismissed his case.Uba had
tried to portray himself as the governor
in waiting ever since the Supreme
Court ruled that the 2007
elections which brought him to office
ought not have been held since Peter
Obi's tenure had not elapsed.Though
preparations are on going towards fresh
elections in Feb.2010,Uba had sought to
be sworn in as the next governor. But the
court ruling has shattered that dream.
Perhaps the ruling
paves way for the candidates for
the February polls to in deed charge on
with their campaigns without any
fear.While Governor Peter Obi's APGA
appears to have finally resolved its
differences, the Peoples Democratic
Party, PDP which controversially adopted
Professor Chukwuma Soludo as its
candidate is still enmeshed in internal
crisis.
Even President Umaru
YarAdua has voiced out his
disappointment with his party ,the
PDP,for failing to conduct
credible primaries in Anambra
state.Whether other parties can truly
take advantage of the crisis rocking the
PDP now and stop Soludo from clinching
the coveted seat remains to be seen.
