The former
United Kingdom Secretary to the Treasury,
Lord Paul Boateng says the future is bright
for Africa economy as the Continent has
remained resilience in the face of the
global economic crisis. Lord Boetang who
spoke to airport reporters shortly after
arriving at the Murtala Mohammed
International Airport Ikeja declared that
there were expectations that Africa will
come through from its current difficult
process.
Lord Boetang
arrived in the country to present a paper
titled:Developing Economies; rethinking and
Reshaping the Future, at Kuramo Conference
organized by Lagos State Government in
partnership with the private sectors.
The former
treasury Secretary said for Africa to be
emancipated from these present economic
woes, everyone must recognize that the
responsibility of managing the economy well
depended on having sound economic policies
that will stand the test of time.“The good
news is that Africa has proved to be
remarkably resilient in terms of its economy
during the current global down turn and we
have every expectation that Africa will come
through this difficult process stronger and
better placed
Lord Boetang
stressed the need economic growth and job
creation to put Africa right on track and
commended the government and people of Lagos
State for recognizing the rebuilding and
strengthening the African economy.
“We have to
ensure
that the economy is managed very well and
that we have effective and sound economic
policies so that together we create a
continent in which there is growth with job”
He
declared that Nigeria and its future
potentials is the key to the success of
Africa hence every other nation must look up
to her to demonstrate her leadership
strength displayed in the past fifty years.
