Col. Umar
Colonel Abubakar Dangiwa Umar (retd) has described the on-going
bombings in Nigeria as 'war' that requires a united front by
Muslims and Christians. In a statement on Sunday in the
aftermath of the Madalla bombing on Christmas day, Umar said “We
must as faithful Muslims and Christians confront this threat to
our national unity
and wellbeing by forging
a united front
in the war.”
Specifically, the former governor of Kaduna
state said, “The aim of
the perpetrators is
very clear:It is an attempt to sow the seeds
of
disaffection between the
adherents of the two great religions
of Islam and Christianity. At a time like this, it is all
very tempting to engage
in interfaith recriminations and destructive vengeance.
Needless to say this can only succeed
in giving traction
to the forces of evil
.We must as faithful Muslims and Christians confront this threat
to our national unity
and wellbeing by forging
a united front
in the war.”
Earlier he said
“It goes
without saying that all
true believers –particularly -Muslims and Christians-whose
religions emphasize peaceful coexistence are shocked and
saddened by the bombings of Churches and other places in
Northern Nigeria on-of all days –Christmas. These acts are an
assault on our religious sensibility. The perpetrators are
enemies of the whole of humanity
and cannot be said
to represent any faith. Hellfire is certainly their abode
in the hereafter. We
pray for the dead
and injured as we
extend our condolences to their loved ones.”

Christmas Day
Bombing in Nigeria:My Reaction
It goes
without saying that all
true believers –particularly -Muslims and Christians-whose

in the hereafter. We
pray for the dead
and injured as we

We pray that God will deliver us from our
tormentors as we
wish all our Christian brothers a very merry Christmas and to
all Nigerians a prosperous new year.
God bless.
