Vaswani Brothers Have a Case To Answer -EFCC Insists

Last week, the Economic And Financial Crimes Commission ,EFCC declared  the Vaswani Brothers wanted over alleged N3billion fraud. But the Vaswanis later said they were surprised by such  move by the Commission. They even accused the EFCC of being used by their business rivals.

Such comments from the Vaswanis have drawn the ire of the EFCC.In a statement today, the  Commission has taken exception to the tactics adopted by the Vaswani Brothers. The full text of a statement released by Femi Babafemi ,the Commission`s spokesman a few minutes ago reads thus:

''The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has been drawn to the series of press statements issued by the Vaswani brothers and the Stallion Group within the last 48 hours over the N3billion fraud allegation for which they are  being investigated.

''While the EFCC is not interested in being drawn into a media exchange with the Vaswani brothers and their business empire, it is obvious that their statements have been slanted to impugn on the integrity of the Commission and mock its powers to discharge its statutory responsibilities.

''The Commission therefore wishes to state that no level of blackmail will distract it from its cause of investigating the matter under focus and recovering the money for the government and people of Nigeria.

''Since the Vaswani brothers have not denied that the N3 Billion fraud allegation is not real, it stands to reason that they have a case to answer. As such, it is only honourable for them to make themselves available for investigation rather than staying away to throw stones at the Commission in an attempt to blackmail a government agency carrying out its statutory responsibilities.

''This will surely not work.''
