The Chairman of the Board of Nigerian Aviation Handling Company
Plc, Nahco aviance,Alhaji Suleiman Yahyah, has commended the
organization of the annual Kaduna International Polo Tournament
for its consistency in maintaining high standards in the game
over the years. According to him the participation of some
highly- rated foreign players during the just -concluded
tournament goes to show that the Kaduna tourney has consistently
gained credibility in the Polo game calendar in the world.
Speaking in Kaduna over the weekend after the presentation of
the giant NAHCO Cup won by the Kaduna Safaz Shelter team at the
final day of the
2011 edition of the tournament, Alhaji Suleiman observed that
though the tournament which was first staged over 100 years ago
has not attained its highest peak, there is room for improvement
and urged the organizers not to rest on their oars until the
tournament is rated first globally. The Cambridge-trained
Economist remarked that nahco aviance being a company that
believes in perfection and renders top of the range ground
handling services in the aviation sector, it will always try to
identify with organizers of top-rated events in Nigeria as part
of its Corporate Social Responsibility.
Nahco aviance took over the sponsorship of the cup which is one
of the major trophies in the annual
Kaduna polo
tournament in 2007 with a cash prize of One Million, Five
Hundred Thousand Naira. This year's diadem was won by a quartet
comprising Shuaibu Zakari, Danjuma Abdullahi, Bello Buba and
Baba Kyari after defeating the Katsina Max Air team 5-3. The
closing ceremony was attended by by dignitaries which included
the Governor of Kaduna State, Sir Ibrahim Patrick Yakowa,
traditional rulers from Kaduna, Adamawa, Kebbi and Niger States
among others.
