The forthcoming Kuramo Conference slated for
2-4th November, 2010 at Eko Hotels and
Suites is actively encouraging the
participation of Nigerian students and youth
organizations at the conference.
The Kuramo Conference is an international
summit of multidisciplinary experts and
knowledge vendors drawn from business,
finance, energy and the environment. A “must
attend” for all interested in the confluence
of policy, advocacy and development as it
impacts the international community at large
and the African continent in particular.
The confirmed plenary speakers are
Mary Robinson,
President -
International Commission of Jurists,
former President of the
Republic of Ireland
and
United Nations
High Commissioner,
Jesse Jackson,
former US
Special Envoy
for Africa and two-time US
presidential candidate
and Right Honorable
Lord Paul Boateng,
Former UK Secretary to the Treasury. A
welcome address will be delivered by Mr.
Babatunde
Raji
Fashola, SAN, Governor of
Lagos State.
On why students from
Nigeria’s
higher institutions are being encouraged to
actively participate in the conference, The
Youth Coordinator of the Conference, Mr.
Adeola Austin Oyinlade said, "In the next 50
years only the youth of today would be in
charge of things. It is, therefore,
important to involve them now in all
activities that will prepare them for
national and international leadership and
development."
The conference, which will host notable
international and domestic professionals
from various fields as speakers,discussants
and session chairs, will be chaired by Hon.
Justice Emmanuel O. Ayoola, CON, DCL, JSC (rtd)
Chairman of the Independent
Corrupt Practices
and Other Related Offences Commission in
Nigeria. Prof Yemi Osinbajo SAN serves
as this year’s conference vice chair.
The conference is being organized by The
Kuramo Conference 2010 planning committee, a
collaboration between the Lagos State
Government and leading
private sector professionals.
The
Attorney General
and
Commissioner
for Justice, Mr. Supo Shasore SAN is the
conference planning committee chair
and the vice-chair is Dr. Babatunde Ajibade
SAN. The Kuramo Conference Project Director
is Mrs. Jumoke Oduwole.
Students can apply individually and schools
can sponsor their students to the conference
at a special reduced student rate. Further
